ABOUT THE FIRST FIVE STORIES

The Unravelling

Each of these stories will focus on a character who plays an important role in combating the Unravelling — a so-called apoplectic event that will lead to the total destruction of society if not stopped. Though each of these stories tells a self-contained tale, all five characters are interconnected with ramifications that will affect all of humanity.

The Keys

Future Now’s overarching narrative is centered around people who have been gifted with a magical-like ability to intuitively control technology. People who can seemingly halt a charging tank with the flick of their wrist. Or who can walk through the Mirror undetected (The Invisible Man). Or who can shut down a country’s entire power grid in a fit of rage. And as the Keys come together their powers intensify while becoming harder to control.

At least one of the protagonists featured in the first five stories is a Key and as a result, will play an outsized role in the world of Future Now. Who that is and whether they will use their power for good or evil is a mystery.

The Realms

These five characters are geographically isolated from one another and represent a cross-section of human culture in the year 2084. Over time their paths will cross as their stories intertwine;

  • Azadeh was born in the slums but aspires to climb the ranks of Dy’ell Corporation as a robotics engineer.

  • Princess Mirela came of age in the Venusian Colony as it transitioned from a planet-wide prison to a monarchy. She’s currently travelling to Earth where she will be immersed in its diverse culture.

  • Sinder was born in the Cove, a resilient community surviving in the flooded remains of Boston, Massachusetts. Through her story, we are introduced to the new territories that formed after the 2nd American Civil War, The Great Lakes Super Cluster, The Arklands, The New Confederacy. and more..

  • Asher lives in Sector 236, a top-secret facility on the Moon run by Progres Corp which takes advantage of the lax regulations in the Colonies to conduct their most advanced experiments.

  • Ava runs a successful mining operation in the asteroid belt that supplies the solar system with the minerals it needs to build humanity’s future amongst the stars.
