FAQ

How many episodes will there be?

Future Now is currently in production for an initial run of 25 episodes.  However, with support from people like you, we will be able to make many more than that! The more people we get to subscribe and like our videos, the more opportunities we will be given to keep making Future Now.

Where can I watch?

Episodes of Future Now will be available on YouTube and Facebook Watch.

Why did you pick the year 2084 to explore?

Aside from being a subtle reference to George Orwell’s 1984, a great influence to our series, we wanted to pick a year that was not too far in the future that our predictions would seem meaningless but not too near that they would be too unrealistic. 2084 fell right in this sweet spot and also has a nice ring to it. Why is the future so dystopian?

We don’t feel as if the world of Future Now is “dystopian.” It is a vast world with lots of amazing developments as well as a lot of suffering. Just like the world today. If the predictions of the future seem dystopian, it is simply because we are trying to project the course we are currently on.

How does this series relate to What If?

What If is all about answering fantastical hypothetical questions using real world science. Future Now has this same ethos, but we wanted to do it in a way that would allow for creativity of our writers and our audience to shine through. We decided that the best way to do this would be through speculative fiction. Everything in our world is hypothetically possible, and in many cases there are concepts and ideas that are discussed in some of the most popular What If videos. Just like the What If videos, we have consulted with the foremost experts on the subjects we address to make sure what you’re seeing is rooted in the possible.

How “accurate” is what I’m watching? Do you really think that all this is going to happen?

This is a science-fiction series, so what we are presenting is not a concrete prediction. We are not guaranteeing that this is what 2084 will look like. It could look something like this, but the series is about fueling creativity and building a community of like-minded sci-fi fans rather than trying to make a correct prediction.
